9:30 Introduction to Effective Teamworking and small group theory:
In easy times teams tend to work best with relaxed leadership, but when things get tough a stronger more hands-on approach is preferred. Leadership roles may emerge to cater for the differing needs of the members – Socioeconomic vs. Task leaders. Some research suggests the classification of teamworkers can be achieved by evaluating members in terms of energy and attitude so that, in teamwork:
Energy X Attitude = Impact
To further underscore the importance of attitude and energy, consider:
High attitude X high energy = Players
Low attitude X high energy = Cynics
High attitude X low energy = Spectators
Low energy X low attitude = Walking dead
